After last year’s success, we’re excited to announce Games Careers Week is back again for 2024.
Taking place between the 24th-30th June, the week brings together a range of organisations showcasing the various and diverse pathways available for young people to get into the games and creative industries. Both online and physical events, ranging from online Q&A’s, Careers Fairs and Game Jams, will highlight the importance of transferable skills, and preparing students to be “job ready”.
Organised by the National Videogame Museum, they, alongside supporter Boneloaf and their GCW 2024 partners, will deliver activities, events and resources throughout the week to inspire young people’s passion to enter the creative industries while also helping parents understand the credibility of a career in games.

Hugely successful in 2023, this year sees the return of The NVM’s Games Careers Fair. Taking place over two days on the 25th and 26th June, and through the generosity of supporters Boneloaf, The NVM have invited 500 secondary school students from high pupil premium, SEND and FE schools to attend the Careers Fair for free to allow them access valuable help and advice on careers in the creative mediums.
Places are still available to attend so if you are home schooled or a secondary education provider head over to the event page to book your place.
The fair will see exhibitors from games studios, creative industries and educational institutions providing advice, discussing career pathways and exploring techniques to prepare young pupils for the next stage of their professional lives.

“Really enjoyed our visit. Students couldn’t speak highly enough about their visit and it certainly got plenty to discuss future career plans.” – Teacher, 2023
Other planned activities include QA (Quality Assurance) Testing, Game Jams, online talks and sharing your pics by taking part in a dress up day on the 29th June!
Be sure to keep checking what events are on throughout the week here with more being added over the coming weeks.
There’s still time for studios, educational institutions and creative industries to get involved. Inspire the next generation by hosting an event (maybe a Q&A session or CV surgery workshop), create an online blog/vlog or create a social media campaign / thread.
Our handy resource pack will help provide inspiration and examples of what you can do to inspire young people to enter the industry.
